Someday …

I live in the city now, but someday …

I will live in a house like this …

And my animals will live here …

Or may here …

..

My Chickens will enjoy this beautiful Home …

And This will be my Garden …

..

.

I will drive one of these Lovelies …

And tour the Farm on a Pink tractor.

If you can dream it, you can achieve it!

XOXO, Lissy

Angels Watching Over Me

Thank you for understanding my post delay.  I lost my brother, and I’ve been moving a little slower. The support that you’ve given me has been a treasure and a comfort. Angels watching over me …

Butcher Block Love

I love these beautiful butcher blocks that Elspeth at Willcoxon Designs uses to add work space and interest to her projects. Her unique twist is that she custom designs the table bases for antique English butcher blocks. I would love one of these Lovelies to sit beside my new range and solve two design problems–lack of space and mobility. I called Willcoxon Designs to find out the availability of a small table, and you guessed it–none right now. I’m using plan ‘B’ and  having one built by  local furniture maker Rob Cart–problem solved. The fast pace of the last few weeks has slowed down–everything I need now seems to be a Special Order, and we all know how that goes. More later this week, or maybe next week.

The perfect butcher block–I love that it has a drawer!

Great addition to the island–extra work area and added interest.

Could you use one of these butcher blocks in your kitchen?

Porch Perfect

Perfect porches are hard to find, but this one hits the mark. Wouldn’t you just love to relax with a refreshing cocktail on this lovely porch overlooking a small woodland stream. And the best thing about this porch is that it is located in the city–no traveling required! This relaxing retreat was designed by Architect Norris Broyles of Atlanta, Georgia. He included a Hearthstone stove to provide just enough heat for the Winter chill in Atlanta. What a thoughtful design—it’s all in the details.

Welcome to this charming porch overlooking the woods–love the lights on the steps.

Take off the evening chill with the Hearthstone stove–cozy.

There is a Great deck off of this porch–perfect for entertaining.

Have a seat and wait for the grilling to begin.

Open these doors for great flow during your next party

Beautiful rail detail on the porch and decks

And the View is Fantastic!

The grill is heating up and the cocktails are ready–Enjoy the View!

So many Choices–Chandeliers

Chandeliers–love ‘em! I’ve been looking for the perfect chandelier to hang over the kitchen table. The French rustic table is painted gray and white—found it at Dovetail Antiques in Cashiers, North Carolina. The table has beautiful rounded leaves that drop on each end. I want an ‘over the top’ crystal chandelier to contrast with the table and add some glamor to the kitchen (if a kitchen can be glamorous.) Here are a few of my choices.

This was my inspiration–already spoken for. So glamorous. I love something shiny!

This iron and crystal chandelier measuring 13 x 26 is at CK Swann Antiques in Highlands, North Carolina,.

This little gem is really sweet. The green is a real statement. I found this one at Peachtree Battle Antiques.

Stunning! Just a little bigger than the others, and vailable from Ryan & Co. in Cashiers, N.C.

Decisions, decisions … I won’t keep you in suspense any longer—I chose the last one. This is a little larger than I was thinking of using over the painted table, but it’s a real stunner!

I love the little green glass and crystal one, too. I may have to find a home for it, if you don’t beat me to it. I can see this one hanging in an entry, a guest bathroom or even a girls room. How charming this would be in a laundry room, with all those bubbles!

The Iron and Crystal smaller chandelier would be just beautiful in an entry or a bedroom. I need all of them. Maybe I have a chandelier problem! Help me out and buy them.

We Have Floors! The stain is still wet, so this picture was taken through the front window.

The floors will take another 3-4 days to finish–so much more to do.

Kitchen Love

Finally, the Kitchen renovation of the Atlanta house is underway. I have been waiting for some good progress to post on this–wiring, plumbing, steel beams and structure work are just a little boring. My next few posts will be about the progress on this total renovation–without the drywall dust of course. (Even Janie and Daisy are covered in dust.)

This is the starting point–1948 kitchen. Very small and dysfunctional, but very cute.

Old range–10 inch cabinets–TV over head (genius thanks to Randy Korando of Boxwoods)

Cute island is getting painted and moving to the back for stoarage–floor is changing to wide plank pine

Now for the really exciting part–DEMOLITION–REMOVAL–RENOVATION–so very exciting.  Sorry, I get carried away when walls come down.

Progress–one wall down, two more to go. Dishwasher, washer and dryer all moved out. We now have lots of reaady-to-eat food

Totally open kitchen! Cabinets were on the blank drywall–brown area was the only eating and family area. The ceilings are blue and will stay this color–more on colors later.

Ta–da, old walls gone–new drywall up! The column in the middle will be a focal point later.

New home for the 'real' range, a 6 burner Viking with a steel and brass hood. The vent will be run under the house and connect to the old vent.

New pantry in the works, The washer and dryer will be stacked in this ares too.

How exciting is this–well for me it is just the most exciting thing ever! I will continue with more kitchen renovation posts ASAP–So much to do!
